All That Jazz

Friday, April 22The Airmen of Note, the US Air Force’s premier jazz band, plays atMidway ISD Performing Arts Center, 800 N. Hewitt Drive in Hewitt, at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are free but are required.

Saturday, April 23Rootstock: a Texas Wine Festival.  Jazz provided by Dave Wild andEvan Klaras (12 noon – 2 pm) and Pat McKee and Tram Kelly (2 – 4 pm).  (Americana-folk group Union Revival plays 4 – 6 pm).  The festival takes place near the Waco Suspension Bridge at Indian Spring Park. Fox and Rob Page will perform at Valley Mills Vineyard’s Saturday Sip and Swirl later that evening from 8:00 pm; VMV is located at 8532 Highway 6 North, 848-4343.

Monday, April 25.  “Concert for Kenny: A Tribute to Kenny Frazier”.  Jon Fox (guitar) with Pat McKee, Clark Nauert, Pat Kelly, Evan Klaras (guitar), Dick Gimble (bass), and Jon Kutz (drums). MTA Theater, McLennan CommunityCollege, 7:30 pm.

NOTE: The Dave Wild Trio’s performance at Valley Mills Vineyards, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 30, has been postponed to Saturday, May 21, from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  Vocalist Bruce Carbonara sings at VMV’s Sip and Swirl on Saturday, May 7.

The Waco Jazz Orchestra plays “Shades of Jazz” in concert on Monday, May 2.  The free concert is in the Ball Performing Arts Center at McLennan Community College and starts at 7:30 pm.

Muddle has discontinued its participation in the monthly Downtown First Friday event.  However, the duo of Greg Bashara and Evan Klaras continues the jazz at the Waco Hilton on Friday May 6.  The Hilton is at 113 S University Parks Dr. (754-8484).
